Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Flashforge ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Flashforge IDE application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: Name, email address, password (hashed), role (SuperAdmin/Admin/Faculty/Student), and institution affiliation.
- Institutional Data: Institution name, subscription status, plan type, and license keys.
- Payment Information: Payment is processed through Razorpay. We do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or banking details. We only store Razorpay payment IDs and order IDs for record-keeping.
- Code & Projects: Source code, assignments, submissions, and project files you create or upload within the IDE.
- Usage Data: Feature usage patterns, session duration, and interaction data within the IDE.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Flashforge IDE services.
- To process transactions and manage subscriptions via Razorpay.
- To authenticate users and manage role-based access (SuperAdmin/Admin/Faculty/Student).
- To enable AI-powered features (chat, code generation, skill marketplace).
- To manage assignments, submissions, grading, and anti-cheat reports for institutional users.
- To send important service updates and security notifications.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
3. AI Model Usage
Flashforge IDE integrates with third-party AI models:
- Ollama (Local): Runs entirely on your machine. No data leaves your device.
- Google Gemini: If you configure your own API key, your code is sent to Google's servers per their Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI: If you configure your own API key, your code is sent to OpenAI's servers per their Privacy Policy.
We do not send your code to any AI service unless you explicitly configure an API key and initiate a request. We do not have access to your personal API keys — they are stored locally on your machine.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data only:
- With Razorpay for payment processing.
- With AI providers (Gemini/OpenAI) only when you configure and use your own API key.
- When required by law or to protect our legal rights.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice).
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (one-way encryption).
- All API communications use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- JWT tokens with expiration for session management.
- Rate limiting and abuse prevention on all endpoints.
- Helmet.js security headers on the backend.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Code and project data are stored as long as you use the service. Institutional data (assignments, submissions, grades) is retained per the institution's policy. You may request data deletion by contacting us.
7. Your Rights
- Access and download your personal data.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
- Configure AI models to run locally (Ollama) for zero data transmission.
8. Children's Privacy
Flashforge IDE is used in educational institutions. For users under 18, we require institutional consent (admin registration). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without proper authorization.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
